30% students in Catalonia don't get ESO Certificate!!!

Is our educational system being effective enough?

I think that our educational system is not effective enough

Are students working hard enough?
No, I think that the students don't work hard

Are parents helping in the educational process?

Depend, there are parents that they are helping, but there are parents that they don't help

What's the average in your class?
In my class there are a lot of variety. There are the student that doesn't work and have good marks, There are the student that work and study and have good marks, There are the student that doesn't study much and not have good marks.

What's the problem? Have you got any suggestions?
I think that the problem is the government. The politicians always change the laws and some of them are "stu...id"

Writing unit 8: Write about an experience

This time last year, tings weren't going too well for me. I'd failed some exams at school. I spent a lot of time in computer. The only thing that make me happy was football.
Everything changed for me the day I saw a book about climbing. The people were going to climbing. We went to Líbia and we went to climb the Pica d'Estats, a very tall and big mountain of Catalonia. I found new friends.
These days I feel much happier. Climbing has made me feel more important.
If I hadn't read this book, I'd never had the opportunity.

Writing unit 7: Write an opinion essay

The government plans to introduce a new law which will mean that the students, will go to school on Saturday mornings in order to improve the level of education.
In the first place, In my opinion this would have positive for our education consequences but it won't be a good idea for teenagers.
It probably improve our lever in all the country.
I think that this is unfair because on Saturday, teachers should work and the state will pay you more. And now, this is not good knowing we are in crisis. Ther is an alternative method to achieve the government's aims that approved a new law.
Finally, the alternative methods about the plans to introduce school on saturday are with internet or like always, going to the school. The results shoudn't be agreed for guys.

Nandu - I know, but I'm really going to miss him.

Adam - Don't take it too badly - at least he won't be very far away and you can visit him. Manchester's a really cool city.

Nandu - That's true, I suppose.

Adam - Look at it this way - if he hadn't got that job, he'd have been really disappointed.

Nandu - Yeah, maybe you're right.

Adam - Cheer up! Come on - let's go to a café or something.

Nandu - OK. Thanks, Adam. I feel a bit better now.

The walking dead

If you're reading this then 2012 wasn't the end of the world... so you can relax and enjoy some of the many apocalyptic films and TV series. The Walking Dead is one of the best. Now in its third season in the US, t is still playing to record audiences.
Based on the iconic comic book series by Robert Kirkman, it is scary, funny and addictive. Naturally there is blood and violence (it is rated 16 in France) but it also makes you think.

How do humans live together when traditional institutions and authority are gone? And how difficult is it to kill a

loved one, even if that person is now a zombie?

Vatican: Cardinals could meet sooner to choose new pope

Rome (CNN) -- The cardinals who must pick a successor to Pope Benedict XVI after he steps down on February 28 could meet to make the decision sooner than thought, a Vatican spokesman said Saturday.
The conclave, the meeting which will bring together the 117 cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church, could start before March 15 if all the cardinals are already in Rome, Father Federico Lombardi said.
Lombardi had previously said the conclave was likely to start between March 15 and 19.
But he gave new details Saturday, saying that because the pope had resigned rather than the conclave being triggered by his death, there was scope for the time frame to be brought forward.
The decision may not come until after Benedict's departure and lies in the hands of the cardinals, he added.

Opinion: Pope Benedict shows true leadership by resigning

Benedict is the first pope to step down in nearly 600 years, throwing the Vatican into some confusion.
Experts are working on points of the Apostolic Constitution that need to be clarified or interpreted, Lombardi said, and are expected to give pointers on the new protocol soon.
Lombardi said he had met with the pope Saturday morning and found him "calm and relaxed even in these so emotional days."
Benedict, 85, shocked the world Monday when heannounced his intention to stand down at the end of the month, citing the frailty of old age.

While Benedict won't be directly involved in his successor's selection, his influence will undoubtedly be felt. He appointed 67 of the 117 cardinals that are set to make the decision.

Pope Benedict XVI waves in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican in December 2012. Benedict, 85, announced on Monday, February 11, that he will resign at the end of February "because of advanced age." The last pope to resign was Gregory XII in 1415.

Messi passes another milestone as Barça ease 15 clear

(CNN) -- Lionel Messi scored his 300th goal for Barcelona then promptly scored his 301st as the La Liga leaders came from behind to beat Granada 2-1 on Saturday.
The Argentine pounced when Granada keeper Tono could only parry a Cesc Fabregas drive in the 50th minute to level the scores after Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo has given the home side the lead in the 26th minute.
The poacher then turned game-winner 17 minutes from the end, curling a free kick over the wall and past the flailing hand of Toto to register his 36th goal of the Barca's league campaign.

On song, yet again. Lionel Messi scored his 300th goal for Barcelona on Saturday in a 2-1 win over Granada.
